The World and its Pear Tree
The story of the 9/11 Survivor Tree - Exhibition by Noële Baker
Visual arts
In the aftermath of 9/11, New York firemen discovered the remains of a burnt, badly damaged pear tree. However, with loving care, the tree was nursed back to life. It was replanted at Ground Zero, NYC, in 2010. Every spring it blossoms into a magnificent white bouquet.
A witness to the passing of time and a true embodiment of resilience, the pear tree stands as a symbol of rebirth and renewal. Despite a visible scar at its core, it ultimately personifies the ability to overcome tragedies.
Noële Baker conjures up the destiny of the New York Survivor Tree sending us a message of hope. The twenty-five scrolls will unroll to the ground of the Centre des arts on Tuesday 10 January 2023. The vernissage was held from 17:00 to 20:00.
